With all the extra time at home during covid, I have read more than usual this year. Its been one of the hidden benifits!  Below is my list of the best books for entrepreneurs to read in 2020…

So I usually set aside 45 minutes as part of my morning routine to read.  It was one of the first things I implemented when I left corporate that allowed me to grow my business quickly, and its one of the first things I recommend anyone wanting to start a business or become an influencer do.

When I start working with clients, I also usually recommend books to read, as it gets their mind working on projects subconsciously…

One of the questions I get asked a lot is what I am reading, and what to I recommend, so I thought I would share 🙂

Books I am currently reading:

The Effective Executive: Drucker – I read this book in 2015 and thought it was good, but didn’t grasp everything fully at that point in my life. It came up in a discussion with a friend a few weeks ago, and I decided I should re-read it. Even though its dated, there is a ton of good stuff in here for consulting conversations.

Talk to Me | Dean Nelson – How to interview people and get beyond the surface. Some of the book is fluff, but there is some really good takeaways around how to ask better questions and get people to open up. (it also has some great stories from behind the scenes with a great journalist)

The Ride of a Lifetime | Robert Iger – Retired CEO of Disney. A good story with some nuggets of how he handled transitioning Disney into the online age to compete with Netflix and others. Also how he dealt with difficult career situations.

Books that I recommend a lot:

Pitch Anything and Flip the Script | Oren Klaft – Great easy reads that show you how to talk clearly about what you do, who you serve, and why you exist. The premise is how to sell really well in a group setting. Should be mandatory for entrepreneurs (of the 2, I would read flip the script)

Expert Secrets | Russell Brunson – If you haven’t read this yet, START HERE! very easy to read, and at least 20 implementable things that will grow your business quickly.

How to win friends and Influence People | life-changing, it’s surprising how many people haven’t read this.

No More Mr. Nice Guy | Robert Glover – How to have healthy boundaries, confront your insecurities, and communicate in a healthy way.

Shoe Dog (the story of Nike) | Phil Knight – well written and an easy read that takes people on the Entrepreneurial journey, complete with pain, longing, triumphs, and growth.

Total Recall | Arnold Schwarzenegger – the man did so much! coming from a small farm town with no running water or electricity to bodybuilding to buying apartments, to becoming a film star to governor; his story has a lot of success traits in action and is a fun read.

That’s my list for the Best Books For Entrepreneurs To Read in 2020.  Have something I should read or that should have made the list?  Feel free to reach out below, I am always happy to hear about great books.
