How do you use story selling to grow your home based businesses

That’s the golden question.

Not everyone has the talent for, or likes sales.

But the reality is, if you are an entrepreneur, or you have a side hustle or home based business… Sales is inescapable.

Sales is something you must not only be good at, but something you have to extremely excel in.

So if you are working on MLM or building that home based business, you want people to lean in and buy from you. You need to understand how to market your business.

And you need to be very convincing.

If you are an entrepreneur, you need to be good at making people listen to you. You need to attract their attention and get them hooked.

With any business, you want your customer to take action with you.

So how do you get people to lean in, take action, and buy from you?…

…How do you use Story Selling to grow your Home Based businesses?

You start with a story.

In this article I’ll be showing you how storytelling for home based businesses and entrepreneurs can make you more convincing and value adding to your customers.

As a side bonus, the tips in this article will also work for your family, friends, and anyone that you want to take action with you.

This blog post will go through how:

  1. Storytelling for home based business and entrepreneurs is game changing
  2. How to practice storytelling and make stories for your home based business

Storytelling for Home Based Business and Entrepreneurs

In my line of work, I like to be surrounded by people who understand what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.

I like to be around people who are interested in their personal growth and want to grow with me. Being around people who are also invested in their growth and development motivates me.

That makes it easier to come up with great ideas and take action.

So I wanted my friend to listen to this audiobook that I loved. I told him “I sent you a book, you should listen to it, it will be good for you…”

He was given all the reasons why he should read it.

And as I was going on, my friend started backing away, giving me a ton of excuses why he couldn’t. “Oh I don’t like audiobooks” or “I’m too busy.”

But that was my mistake.

I didn’t give him a chance to think for himself. He didn’t get the time to process what I was saying.

I didn’t let him warm up to the idea first.

What I didn’t realize was that I was just shoving what I wanted him to do in his face.

But the thing is, people don’t like being told what to do.

People like being able to think for themselves…

… And people want to make their own decisions.

Everyone wants control in their lives.

So I approached that in a completely wrong way. What I should have done was tell him a story.

And the same goes for your home business, MLM, or that side hustle that makes you more money.

When you want to convince people about what you are selling, you don’t want to senselessly keep pushing it to their face.

As an entrepreneur, you want them to see the value of what you do or what you sell on their own. You want your product or offer to shine on its own and be attractive to customers.

The key to getting people to lean in and buy from you is by making that decision their own choice. Not something you are making them do.

You want them to want what you are selling on their own, not forcibly.

And you do that by telling great stories.

So how do you make stories and practice storytelling for your home-based business?

Practice Story Selling and Build Stories for your Home Based Business

How do you make people less resistant to what you are selling?

What do you do to get people to lean in and buy from you?

The trick is to use storytelling for your home based business.

You need to appeal to your customer’s curiosity.

So in the situation I had with my friend, I needed to pivot.

I went back to him and said “Man, the book I am reading right now is awesome. It is giving me everything I wish I knew before I started doing business. I would probably be doing better now if I read this before.”

Naturally, that made my friend curious.

That made him lean in and ask me what the book was. That was important for me because the book really was a game changer when I read it.

So how do you make people lean in, just like my friend?

Story Selling Steps:

  1. Start with the outcome that they want. Remember, this has to be something they want, not something you want.
  2. Work backwards, and identify the pain points encountered in getting to that outcome. This has to be something they can relate to.

In the case of my friend and the book, I shared how the book helped me with answering these questions:

  1. How do you get organic leads?
  2. How do you structure a business to pay the least amount of taxes?
  3. What is the best way to position yourself to get ahead in social standing?

You see, those were the things I was struggling with before I read this book.

Tell a story of how you struggled with those pain points.

In my case, I wasted so much time doing research and figuring out what the first step was.

If I had known and read that book before, I could have spent so much more time doing instead of wondering.

I would have set myself up for success from the get go. That book would have spared me from a ton of headaches.

Leave out the actual, important thing. Don’t tell them everything.

In the case of my example, it was the book. I didn’t tell him what the book was immediately.

Instead, I told him “I read this book, if i had this book from the beginning, it would have cut me so much time off of my journey. I would’ve wasted less time figuring out what to do, and more time doing it”

So what did leaving out the important part do?

It made my friend curious.

He asked me what the title of the book was. Leaving the important part out made him lean in and ask me.

And that’s the trick. Get them to ask questions. Because when they ask questions, they’re hooked.

So at that point, when I gave the answer, my friend took action. He decided for himself he needed to read this book to help him with his own pain points.

Because at that point of asking, he had already placed so much value on what I was recommending.

When I gave him the answer, he took action. Why? He knew for himself that was a smart choice.

That’s how storytelling can make your customers lean in and see your value.

And that value will make them take action with you, and thats how you can use story selling to grow your home based businesses
