If you want to drive people to buy your product or service, you need to establish credibility with customers. How? The answer is Webinars. This post will show you how to make money on your webinar.
Webinars are the Number 1 way that you can sell your knowledge and expertise to your ideal clients. You probably know that already if you’re here. At this point, the question really is “How do I make money with webinars?” or “How do I make a webinar that sells?”
That’s exactly what we’ll get into—how to turn a money making webinar that is sure to sell.
I’ve got clients telling me “Steve, I did a dry run of my webinar yesterday and it was over four hours long. I know that’s not going to work but i don’t know what to cut out.”
Other clients I talk to get more than 300 people to register for their webinar and have a hundred people show up. By the time they’re 20minutes in, most of them dropped off.
If those pain points sound similar to you, these 3 Keys to Money Making Webinars will help sure you host one that sells.
The “One Big Aha!” that leads to making money on your webinar…
Remember, people are there because they want to learn something. This is great for you because you can demonstrate your expertise. This is the catch though, it’s not about teaching them a ton of content, it’s about getting them to that One Big Aha! moment that they will thank you for.
Think about your teachers in high school or university. There are two kinds that are always remembered. The great ones, who made you realize something big and inspired you. And the terrible ones, who just droned on lecture after lecture, writing and writing on the whiteboard that you didn’t really pay attention to. How do you want your potential customers to remember you?
Let me tell you now, that boring, insufferable lecturer won’t get you a webinar that sells. Don’t go for information overload.
Our minds slow down after a certain point because it needs to process. This is good. The more your audience can process what you are teaching them, the more it will stick. Don’t cram a year’s worth of content into a one webinar. You’re not selling them the entire world, you just want them to move forward with you. They just need that One Big Aha moment to get them thinking about the future and how you can help.
Be the fun, engaging teacher you remember nicely to this day. Make sure people learn something from you. Show them how you can solve their pain points, or how they can solve it with your help. Give them that lightbulb moment, and they’ll come back for more.
For every webinar, ask yourself: What is the One Big Aha moment you want to create with your customers? How will that help turn your webinar into a money making machine?
Showing them Outcomes and Journeys to get there will result in buyers.
You have your One Big Aha! moment planned, but how to attract their attention to start with?
Opening with a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo can get them clicking that “Leave Meeting” button in a jiffy. Jumping straight into teaching mode can make you a stranger talking to them across the screen.
Instead, lead with outcomes and journeys to get there. What do they want to achieve? Why did they go to your webinar? Can you really address their pain points? How would you know?
Answering those questions are critical to money making webinars. Would you buy from someone you don’t trust to solve your problem?
One way to demonstrate your expertise and relate to your audience at the same time is with the hero’s journey. Tell your story over just flashing your credentials. If your current state is their desired future, share your own journey with them. Be the living proof of what you teach. What did it look like when you were just starting, and how did you get to where you are now? What was the solution for you?
Another way to demonstrate that you can get them their desired outcomes is by sharing your clients’ journeys. What did your clients go through? This could be a mini client case study, or a testimonial. It can be 15 seconds all the way up to 4 minutes long, but you want to show them how you got the desired result for somebody similar to them.
By doing this, you can help light up that “One Big Aha!” moment, they get excited because they see that you can solve their problem. Here, the chance of you having a webinar that sells gets higher because you show them clearly the way forward.
Engaging Storytelling leads to sales on your webinar
You’ve got your Big Aha and your outcomes-journeys. The next thing you need is packaging that in a story that will keep your audience hooked. How do you do that?
Do: Keep your level of energy high! Get them excited, transfer your confidence about the solution to them.
Don’t: Be the boring lecturer reciting the encyclopedia. Avoid jargon and a string of technicalities if you want them to stay until the end.
Do: Structure your webinar to have your Big Aha with 3 strong supporting points that will prop it up and prove you know your stuff.
Don’t: Overwhelm them with information that they would be better off reading, or distract them from the main point.
In summary, the 3 Keys to money making webinars are:
Make sure your audience will learn something (that’s what they came for). Have them experience a lightbulb moment with you. Give them that “One Big Aha” that you will be remembered for.
Prove that you understand their pain point and have discovered the solution to solve it. Show them their desired outcomes and how you can get them there by sharing yours or your clients’ journeys as proof.
Keep them engaged throughout with your storytelling skills. Don’t let them drop off because they got too overwhelmed or bored. Transfer your enthusiasm for your product or service to them.
